The Swan Hill Specialist School Community Café is a school based program, designed to teach work and life skills. The café is open to all members of the community and offers a range of cakes, slices, savouries and hot beverages, all handmade by staff and students.
Involvement in this program enables students to develop skills including but not limited to; food preparation, customer service, cash handling and hot drink service. Additionally, by learning to follow a recipe, students are provided with a chance to improve and extend on both their literacy and numeracy skills.
The Café is located in the Multipurpose Hall at the Specialist School, 27-33 Yana Street. It is open from 10:30am to 12pm every Friday during the school term and whilst the program welcomes all, groups of ten or more should contact the school on 50323683 for a guaranteed space.
