The Swan Hill Specialist School Community Café is a school based program, designed to teach work skills and follow on from the VET work at Swan Hill College. The café is open to all members of the community and offers a range of cakes, slices, savouries and hot beverages, all handmade by staff and students.
Involvement in this program enables students to develop skills including but not limited to; food preparation, customer service, cash handling and hot drink service. Additionally, by learning to follow a recipe, students are provided with a chance to improve and extend on both their literacy and numeracy skills.
The Café is located in the Multipurpose Hall at the Specialist School, 27-33 Yana Street. It is open from 10:30am to 12pm every Friday during the school term and whilst the program welcomes all, groups of ten or more should contact the school on 50323683 for a guaranteed space.
Our future build will allow for a Café built at the front of the school resulting in extended opening hours.
