Swan Hill Specialist School provides specialist education for students ranging in age from five to eighteen, with mild to severe intellectual disability, associated multiple disabilities and for students with autism.
The school embraces the initiative of student well-being and engagement and provides Individual Education Plans with a modified curriculum to cater for individual needs. Enrolment procedures require students to meet eligibility criteria as outlined in the Department of Education and Training.
Our educational curriculum is enhanced by a multi-disciplinary team comprising Department of Education and Training, psychologists, social workers and speech therapists, a school nurse, contracted physio-therapy and occupational therapy as well as a dedicated group of volunteers who organise a successful Riding Develops Ability Program.

Students are guaranteed a place at their designated neighbourhood school, which is determined on the basis of your permanent residential address. Enrolment at schools like ours, as well as any select entry, specialist and specific purpose school, is determined based on the school’s local Enrolment policy and/or Entry criteria.
The Department provides guidance for designated neighbourhood schools through the Placement Policy to ensure that students have access to their designated neighbourhood school and may enrol at another school, if there are available places.

- Visit or contact the school to discuss your child’s needs and why you think they may be eligible to attend the school. We will provide you with support to initiate any assessments needed to confirm eligibility for enrolment.

- return the completed form, along with the required documents, in person or via email to [email protected]
- A Student Support Group Meeting (SSG) will be held to discuss your child’s needs and to complete an Educational Needs Questionnaire (ENQ).
