Mission Statement
Swan Hill Specialist School is committed to respecting the dignity of the individual and maximising opportunities for students to achieve their educational, social and emotional development in a safe, happy and positive environment.
Statement of Values
All students who attend Swan Hill Specialist School have a right to feel and to be safe. The wellbeing and safety of all students in our care is our first priority and we have zero tolerance to child abuse. The protection of students is the responsibility of everyone who is employed at, or is engaged by Swan Hill Specialist School in child-connected work. To ensure the safety and best interests of all students, we take into account the needs of those with an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander heritage, those from culturally and/or linguistically diverse backgrounds and those with a disability.
Swan Hill Specialist School recognises the importance of the partnership between the school and parents to support student learning, engagement and wellbeing. We share a commitment to, and a responsibility for, ensuring safe, inclusive, and
organised environments for the students.
This Statement of Values sets out the behavioural expectations for all members in the Swan Hill Specialist School community. This includes the principal, all school staff, parents, students and visitors. It respects the diversity of individuals in our school community and addresses the shared responsibilities of all members in building safe and respectful school communities.
Swan Hill Specialist School is committed to child safety. The safety and wellbeing of our students is a primary concern. We want children to be safe, happy and empowered. We support and respect all children, as well as our staff and volunteers. We are committed to the safety, participation and empowerment of all children. Discrimination, sexual and other forms of harassment, bullying, violence, aggression and threatening behaviour is unacceptable and will not be tolerated in this school.
Our Statement of Values acknowledges that parents and school staff are strongly motivated to do their best for every child.
Everyone has the right to differing opinions and views and to raise concerns, as long as we do this respectfully as a community working together.
